Map of repeated flight paths over Dutchess County communities, colored by altitude above ground

A petition to Dutchess County government

Our homes should not be an endless flight-training loop.

Ask every member of Dutchess County government to use the County’s authority to mitigate or eliminate disruptive noise created by flights from Hudson Valley Regional Airport.

The petition

Protect the peace, health, and quality of life of nearby communities.

We, the undersigned residents and neighbors of Hudson Valley Regional Airport, call on the Dutchess County Executive, every member of the Dutchess County Legislature, and all County officials with authority over this county-owned airport to take meaningful action to mitigate or eliminate excessive, repetitive aircraft noise over our communities.

We support safe aviation and reasonable airport access. But concentrated training loops and other avoidable operations should not prevent residents from sleeping, working, learning, enjoying their homes, or spending time outdoors.

We ask County leaders to use every available lease, budget, policy, operational, enforcement, and advocacy tool to produce measurable noise reduction—and to report progress publicly.

We ask County leaders to:

  • Set measurable limits on repetitive touch-and-go and training-loop activity, especially during mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Use airport leases, fees, policies, and funding decisions to discourage concentrated training over nearby homes.
  • Publish monthly data on operations, noise complaints, operators, and progress toward noise reduction.
  • Give affected residents a meaningful role in airport decisions.
  • Press flight schools and the FAA for quieter routes and a fairer distribution of unavoidable operations.
